The SAM (Signal Acquisition Module) controls various vehicle electrical functions. When a SAM module fails, installing a used replacement may require transferring the original vehicle-specific programming and configuration data.

Supported Mercedes-Benz W164 & X164 Vehicles
Our services cover selected SAM modules used in the following Mercedes-Benz vehicle platforms:
- W164 ML-Class: Approximately 2005–2011, including supported ML320, ML350, ML500, ML550 and ML63 AMG applications.
- X164 GL-Class: Approximately 2006–2012, including supported GL320, GL350, GL450 and GL550 applications.
Vehicle compatibility does not guarantee module compatibility. Original and replacement SAM modules must have matching part numbers. Review the individual service listing before ordering.
Common Mercedes W164 / X164 SAM Module Problems
SAM modules on these vehicles may experience electrical or communication faults caused by moisture intrusion, corrosion, internal electronic failures, or other vehicle issues.
- Water-damaged or corroded SAM / fuse box modules.
- Loss of communication with the SAM module.
- Exterior lighting or other electrical functions operating incorrectly.
- Incorrect fuel gauge readings after rear SAM replacement.
- Vehicle configuration problems after installing a used replacement SAM.
- SAM-related diagnostic trouble codes or intermittent electrical problems.
These symptoms do not automatically indicate a defective SAM module. Wiring faults, power supply issues, and other electrical problems can produce similar symptoms. Cloning does not repair unrelated vehicle faults.
W164 / X164 SAM Replacement Programming
Used Mercedes-Benz SAM modules may contain configuration data from the vehicle in which they were originally installed. Even when the replacement module has the same part number, transferring the original data may be necessary for proper vehicle-specific operation.
For supported modules, Velectronix transfers the necessary programming and configuration data from the original SAM to a compatible replacement module supplied by the customer.
The original module's data must be recoverable. Severe water damage, corrosion, or corrupted data may prevent successful cloning. If your original SAM is heavily damaged, contact us before ordering.
- Original and replacement SAM modules must have identical part numbers.
- Customers must supply both modules.
- Replacement modules are not included with the service.
- Service compatibility depends on the module version and condition of the original data.
