BMW EWS Delete & Immobilizer Off Programming Services
Velectronix provides professional mail-in BMW EWS delete and immobilizer off programming for selected BMW engine control modules (DME / ECU). These services modify supported engine computer software for specific immobilizer-related applications, including certain ECU replacements.
Important distinction: Older EWS-equipped BMWs and later CAS-equipped BMWs have different requirements. On supported EWS applications, a physical starter-circuit bypass may be needed. On CAS-equipped vehicles, the CAS module and a working, recognized key must remain installed and functional.

BMW EWS Delete vs. CAS Immobilizer Off
BMW immobilizer systems vary by generation. Disabling immobilizer authorization in the DME does not necessarily eliminate the need for the vehicle's other security and starting-system components.
BMW EWS Systems
On supported older EWS applications, immobilizer-off programming can remove the DME's requirement for EWS authorization. Depending on the vehicle, the EWS module may also be physically bypassed to restore the starter circuit.
Vehicle-side work: A suitable starter-circuit bypass or wiring change may be required. Programming the DME alone does not guarantee that the engine will crank.
BMW CAS Systems
On supported CAS-equipped applications, immobilizer-off programming is primarily used when replacing a DME with another compatible engine computer.
CAS and key required: The CAS module must remain installed and functional, and the vehicle must retain a working key recognized by CAS. This service does not delete CAS or bypass its other starting and vehicle functions.
When Is BMW Immobilizer Off Used?
- Installing a compatible used replacement DME on a supported BMW application
- Addressing certain EWS-to-DME authorization problems on supported older systems
- Replacing a failed engine computer when standard cloning or matching is not the chosen solution
- Specific projects where an EWS bypass is supported and the necessary vehicle-side work can be completed
Immobilizer-off programming does not diagnose the cause of a no-start. A vehicle with a failed key, CAS module, power supply, wiring, starter, or another control module may still fail to crank or start.
Supported BMW DME / ECU Families
Availability depends on the exact DME hardware, software, and individual service listing. The families below are examples to help identify the engine computer; not every version is eligible for immobilizer-off programming.
Siemens MS42 / MS43 / MS45
Earlier BMW six-cylinder engine computers associated with EWS-equipped applications. Verify the exact DME and supported immobilizer-off method before ordering.
Bosch ME7.2 / ME9.2
Selected earlier BMW V8 engine computer families. Support and any required vehicle-side changes depend on the exact application.
Siemens MSV70 / MSV80 / MSV80.1
Engine computers found in selected BMW six-cylinder applications. Confirm whether your vehicle uses CAS and whether your specific DME is supported.
Siemens MSD80 / MSD81 / MSD81.2
Selected N54-related DME applications. For CAS-equipped vehicles, the CAS module and recognized key must continue to function.
Other Supported BMW DMEs
Additional BMW engine computer types may be eligible. Contact us with a clear photo of the original DME label before ordering an unlisted application.
BMW Immobilizer Off vs. DME Cloning
Immobilizer Off / EWS Delete
Modifies supported DME software to remove a particular immobilizer authorization requirement. It may require additional work on the vehicle, and CAS-equipped vehicles still require functioning CAS and key systems.
BMW DME Cloning
Transfers recoverable vehicle-specific data from the original DME to a compatible replacement. This generally aims to preserve the original immobilizer relationship and vehicle configuration rather than disable it.

How Our BMW EWS Delete Service Works
Identify your DME. Locate the BMW and manufacturer part numbers on your engine computer and select the matching service.
Review the system requirements. Confirm whether the vehicle uses EWS or CAS and read the listing's specific installation notes.
Ship your engine computer. Send the DME specified in the service listing to Velectronix. A donor module is not generally needed for an immobilizer-off-only service.
Software programming. We perform the supported immobilizer modification on the module you supply.
Return and installation. We return the programmed DME. Complete any application-specific vehicle-side work before attempting to start the vehicle.
Standard processing is typically 1–2 business days after the module arrives, excluding shipping time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does BMW EWS delete automatically make the starter crank?
No. On supported EWS vehicles, the starter authorization circuit may still need a physical bypass or wiring modification. Immobilizer-off programming changes the DME; it does not automatically change vehicle wiring.
Can I remove the CAS module after immobilizer off?
No. On CAS-equipped BMWs, CAS must remain installed and functional. A working key recognized by CAS is also required. Immobilizer-off programming does not eliminate the CAS system.
Will this fix a lost-key or no-key-recognized problem?
Not on CAS-equipped applications. The vehicle still requires a working, recognized key and functioning CAS. Immobilizer off is not a replacement for key programming or CAS repair.
Do I send my original DME or a replacement?
Send the specific DME you want programmed, as instructed by the product listing. Unlike cloning, immobilizer-off-only programming typically does not require both the original and a donor.
Is EWS delete the same as cloning?
No. Cloning transfers data between compatible engine computers; immobilizer off modifies supported software authorization behavior. The correct service depends on the ECU, vehicle, and reason for replacement.
Does immobilizer off fix every BMW no-start?
No. Mechanical, electrical, key, CAS, starter, fuel, and other problems are outside the scope of this programming service. Confirm the cause of the problem before ordering.
